Evanston has its own filmmaking gravity

Evanston isn’t a Chicago suburb — it’s a city with its own visual identity. Northwestern’s presence shapes the creative community, the architecture mixes lake-shore stately with Main Street commercial, and the campus rhythm gives the year a different cadence. Production here pulls from a deep bench of student crews, local musicians, and faculty consultants.

What we shoot in Evanston

Evanston work covers brand films for businesses on Davis Street, Central Street, and Chicago Avenue; documentary work for nonprofits and civic groups; wedding cinematography along the lakefront and at Rotary Garden venues; and corporate work for the dozen-plus organizations headquartered between Howard and Greenleaf. Real estate cinematography for both Evanston single-family and downtown condo developments.

Northwestern-specific work

Campus video projects need permitting through Northwestern University and adherence to specific guidelines for indoor and outdoor shooting. We’ve worked promotional pieces for academic programs, recruitment campaigns, alumni events, and faculty profiles. Knowledge of NU’s permit flow saves days of pre-production.

North Shore production logistics

Evanston work often extends north — Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe, Northbrook — or pairs with Skokie, Niles, or Park Ridge shoots in the same week. Same crew, same gear, no Chicago downtown traffic. Lakefront access at Greenwood Beach, Lighthouse Beach, and Lee Street is permitted differently than Chicago city parks; we handle that paperwork as part of the production schedule. Drone work over the lakefront is workable where airspace permits.
