A season, told as a short documentary
Over the course of 2025, we followed Chicago Outdoor Collective through a full season and shaped it into a 4-minute short-form documentary. Filmed in part at Ping Tom Park along the river in Chicago, the piece looks back on the season honestly the challenges, the moments worth remembering, and the things the team is proud of. At its heart is an interview with the founders, Jaimar and Maria, whose reflections give the film its voice and turn a year of activity into a story with a beginning, middle, and end.
More than a business a collective with a purpose
Chicago Outdoor Collective is run by women entrepreneurs building something bigger than a company: a collective aimed at making a positive impact on the local community through courses and events. That mission is what makes this a documentary rather than an ad the goal was to capture why the work matters, not just what it produces. Founder-led storytelling like this is some of the most effective brand film work there is, because the people and the purpose carry it.
Every format, one story
Covering a whole season meant shooting in every format the moments called for: professional cinema footage, photography, drone shots for scale and setting, and GoPro action cameras to get inside the activity itself. The edit’s job was to take all of that raw material an entire season’s worth and distill it into four tight, HD minutes anchored by the founders’ interview. The variety of footage keeps the film moving; the interview keeps it grounded.
What was delivered
- A 4-minute HD short-form documentary, built around a founder interview with Jaimar and Maria.
- Season-long, multi-format coverage cinema camera, photography, drone, and GoPro action footage.
- A finished brand story ready for the collective’s website, social channels, and grant or partnership outreach.
Documentary & brand storytelling in Chicago
Every organization has a story that a product shot can’t tell a mission, a team, a reason it exists. Short-form documentary and brand film work is how you put that on screen. If you run a business, nonprofit, or collective around Chicago and want your story told with the same care, let’s talk.
