univision feature story: a concert of remembrance

univision chicago chicago, il 2026

A story of remembrance, told through music

In July 2026, we covered a deeply moving event in Chicago: a concert created by an organization that works with families of violence victims. Together, the families and the organization turned each person’s life into a song a way to remember, to grieve, and to celebrate the people they lost. Our role was to tell that story, and it aired as a feature on Univision Chicago on July 9, 2026.

From a live concert to a broadcast feature

A feature story like this asks for restraint and care. The goal wasn’t spectacle it was to let the families, the music, and the meaning of the night come through honestly. Working as both videographer and editor, the challenge was to shape emotional, real footage into a broadcast-ready feature story with the pacing, clarity, and dignity a piece like this demands. Covering the concert itself also drew on the same instincts as strong event coverage: reading the room, being present without intruding, and never missing the moment that matters.

Videographer and editor, start to finish

This was a single-hand project from camera to final cut shot on location and edited for broadcast, then delivered to air on one of Chicago’s major networks. Seeing a story through both roles keeps the vision consistent: the way it’s filmed anticipates the way it’s cut, and the edit protects the emotional truth captured on the day.

Feature story & documentary work in Chicago

Some stories are bigger than a promo they’re about people, memory, and community, and they deserve to be told with care. If your organization, network, or nonprofit around Chicago has a story that matters, let’s talk about documentary and feature storytelling done right.
